BK Stone Cladding (Pty) Ltd ("BK Stone Cladding", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, and how we protect it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

2. What information we collect
When you request a quote or contact us, we may collect:
- your full name;
- your phone number and, if you provide it, your email address;
- the service you are interested in and the project details you give us, such as the location of the site, sizes and photos;
- the contents of any messages, calls or WhatsApp chats you have with us.
We only collect information that you give us yourself. This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it does not store the information you type into the quote form.
3. Why we use your information
We use your information only to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
- arrange site visits and carry out the work you appoint us to do;
- communicate with you about your project, including invoicing and follow-ups;
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We process your information because you asked us to (so that we can take steps towards a contract with you), to perform our contract with you, or to comply with the law. We will not sell your information, and we will not send you marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
Providing your information is voluntary, but we need at least your name and a contact number to respond to a quote request.
4. How the quote form works
When you press Send via WhatsApp, the form does not send your details to our website or store them anywhere. It opens WhatsApp on your device with a pre-written message containing the details you entered. Nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp yourself. Once sent, the message is handled by WhatsApp (operated by Meta Platforms) under its own privacy policy, and it is received on our business phone.
5. Who we share your information with
We only share your information where this is needed to provide our services or required by law, for example with:
- our employees and subcontractors working on your project, who must keep it confidential;
- communication providers we use to talk to you, such as WhatsApp, email and phone networks;
- our accountants and professional advisers;
- authorities such as SARS, where the law requires it.
6. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of the services we use, such as WhatsApp and email providers, may store information on servers outside South Africa. We only use well-established providers that are subject to data-protection laws or binding agreements that give protection similar to POPIA. This website also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser shares your IP address with Google when you visit.
7. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your request. If you do not go ahead with a project, we delete them within [12 months]. If you become a client, we keep project and financial records for as long as the law requires, generally five years for tax purposes. After that, we delete or destroy them securely.
8. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These steps include password-protected devices, restricting access to the people who need it, and keeping paper records secure. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold information about you and request a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or update information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- object to us processing your information, including for marketing;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer using the details in section 1. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
10. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so that we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
